User Guide
Opening days and hours
- Please check the opening days and times on the "Opening Calendar" on the top page.
- If there are any changes to opening hours, we will notify you in advance on notices and on the library website.
- The library is open on holidays for School of Medicine students to study on their own.
- Counter services (borrowing and returning materials), information searches, and other facility use are available until 15 minutes before closing time.
Usage notes
- Eating and drinking are prohibited (however, drinks in resealable containers are permitted for hydration).
- Please be sure to carry your valuables with you.
- Please refrain from using audio output from electronic devices, or making calls or taking pictures on mobile phones or smartphones.
- Please treat library materials and equipment with care.
Please cooperate so as not to disturb other users and to ensure a pleasant stay for everyone.
Entry and exit
Admission
Undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty and staff, and other university-related personnel must enter the building by presenting their IC card (student ID, faculty ID, etc.) at the entrance gate.
Leaving the building
After passing through the BDS (Band Dealer System), please hold your hand over the exit gate to exit the building.
Borrowing and returning
Lending
- Please present the book you wish to borrow and your IC card (student ID, faculty ID, or library card) or library user card to the staff at the counter and complete the loan procedure.
- Book materials in the textbook section and reference books (dictionaries, encyclopedias, etc.) cannot be borrowed.
Type, number of books, loan period
You can borrow up to 5 books.

- Please return borrowed books to the counter.
- Please use the book drop when the library is closed.
- Please return audiovisual materials and unbound magazines to the counter instead of using the book post.
- If you miss the return date, you will not be able to borrow any more items for the number of days that you are late.
reservation
You can reserve books that are currently on loan through "My Library."
Renewing the loan period
- You can do this from "My Library." If you wish to apply for a loan renewal at the counter, please be sure to bring the book with you during the loan period.
Requesting materials (interlibrary use)
Materials that are not held in the library can be ordered through the mutual use system with other universities (other institutions) and picked up at the library. For details, please inquire during reference service hours.
copy
This is a method to have papers published in books or magazines copied and sent to you by mail. Actual costs such as copying fees and shipping fees will be charged. (Public and scientific research funds can be used.)
Please apply through the "Request for Materials" page on My Library.
Lending
This is a method to have the actual book sent to you by mail. It is basically for use within the library. Actual costs such as round-trip shipping will be charged. (Public funds and research grants can be used.)

View
This is a method to visit other universities or institutions and actually view the materials. Actual costs such as transportation costs will be incurred. Since you need to contact the other party in advance, if you would like to use a library at another university, please be sure to inquire at the library counter (weekdays 8:30-17:00).
Reference Services
This is a service that will assist you if you don't know how to find materials, have questions about the various library services, or would like more detailed information on search methods.

For books that are not in the library's possession, we accept requests to purchase them. Please apply at the counter or through the "Request for Materials" page on My Library.
Use of copy machines
You may make copies of book materials held by the library for study, research, and study purposes within the limits stipulated in Article 31 of the Copyright Act.

Audiovisual Equipment
You can view DVDs and other audiovisual materials held by the library in the library.
How to use
- In principle, use is limited to 2 hours per session.
- Please complete the procedure at the counter to borrow headphones.
- After use, please return the headphones to their original condition.
Usage notes
- You cannot bring in your own audiovisual materials.
- If you notice any problem with the equipment or audiovisual materials, please contact the counter staff immediately.
Use of loaned laptop computers (limited to use within the library and learning square)
Laptops are available for loan to undergraduate students for use in the library and Learning Square only. Please present your student ID card at the counter and apply.

Use of Learning Square
The Learning Square is a space for mutual learning and interaction located on the third floor of the library. Individuals and groups can study here, and computers, scanners, and printers (fees apply) are available.
About student printers
- This is a prepaid card printer. Cards are sold at Kinokuniya Bookstore (Education and Research Building, 6th floor), so please purchase one and print out.
- You can print from the Learning Square desktop PC, your personal laptop, smartphone, or tablet. (Only PDF documents can be printed from smartphones and tablets. Depending on the OS or model, you may not be able to print.)
- When using it from a personal laptop, you will need to install and configure the driver beforehand. When using it from a smartphone or tablet, you will need to download and configure the app.
- When using for the first time, please log in using your student ID and password on the printer's operation panel.

Usage notes
- Please note that the facility cannot be used if it is required for simultaneous use in classes, etc.
- This is a place where conversation is permitted. If you would like to study quietly, please use an area other than the Learning Square (the reading seats on the 4th floor).
- After use, please return the whiteboard, chairs, desks, etc. to their original state.
- If you use books on the 4th floor without borrowing them, please do not take them outside the gate but return them to the book truck in front of the management office.
For those outside the university (members of Hyogo Medical University of Medicine Medical Society, faculty and staff introducers of this university)
- Please be sure to contact the library in advance to inform us of your planned visit. (Weekdays 8:30-17:00)
- Regular members of the Medical Society must bring identification. Supporting members of the Medical Society must bring their supporting membership card.
- If you are a collaborator or researcher introduced by a faculty member of our university, please come to the library together with that faculty member.
