School of Medicine- Course Introduction
Department of Rehabilitation Medicine
Departments of Clinical Sciences (Clinical Medicine)
The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine provides comprehensive rehabilitation medicine for disabilities caused by various illnesses, as well as various tests, consultations, and clinical research related to rehabilitation medicine.
As for clinical research, we are conducting advanced rehabilitation treatments such as constraint induced therapy (CI therapy) for aphasia and motor paralysis caused by sequelae of stroke, transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), botulinum therapy for spasticity, robot rehabilitation for upper limb dysfunction and balance disorders, and treatment using virtual reality (VR) technology for various functional disorders. We mainly have outpatients participate in outpatient rehabilitation treatment.
The Rehabilitation Center has 10 rehabilitation doctors and 57 therapists (physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech-language-hearing therapists) who provide rehabilitation treatment to over 300 inpatients every day, and support patients in smoothly returning home or transferring to rehabilitation hospitals for recovery.
We also operate the Hanshin Minami Area Regional Rehabilitation Support Center, which provides support for local rehabilitation medicine. We also assess the suitability of electric wheelchairs and seating devices under the Hyogo Prefecture Electric Wheelchair and Other Prosthetic Device Assessment Service Outsourced Project, and perform the evaluations required for applications for prosthetic limbs and braces, as well as the application for a physical disability certificate.
