School of Medicine- Course Introduction
Psychology
Departments of Liberal Arts (General Arts Program)
Based on the methods and findings of psychology research, we are conducting research to clarify the structure of various problems in medicine and to find solutions in collaboration with research institutes in Japan and overseas. The research we are currently conducting is as follows:
A cognitive psychological study of acceptance of the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine
In foreign countries, mainly in Europe and the US, the vaccination rate for the HPV (human papillomavirus) vaccine, which causes cervical cancer, is high, and this has contributed greatly to a significant reduction in the incidence and mortality rates of cervical cancer, but in Japan the vaccination rate remains low. One of the reasons for this is the problem of communication between experts (doctors) and non-experts regarding risk. We are conducting a questionnaire survey to clarify how both parties perceive the risks of the HPV vaccine, and are examining effective communication methods.
A cognitive psychological study of coronavirus vaccine acceptance
We are using questionnaires to analyze the differences in how experts (doctors) and non-experts perceive the risks of COVID-19 vaccines, and are examining effective communication methods between them. In addition, we will conduct a survey in the United States to clarify the characteristics of COVID-19 vaccine acceptance through international comparison.
