School of Medicine- Course Introduction

Informatics

Departments of Liberal Arts (General Arts Program)

In the Informatics Laboratory, we are researching the examination and improvement of the content of information education required for medical students, as well as the teaching methods. In addition, as part of our research in the field of educational technology (an interdisciplinary research field that aims to achieve educational goals effectively and efficiently by systematizing teaching and learning), we are conducting research into the processing of educational information and learning support using ICT (information and communication technology). Specifically, we have been working on the following two research areas:

  1. In medical education, we analyze the goals of the information required as liberal arts and the goals required for education, and then consider exercises that are appropriate for each student. In addition to information literacy education, we also develop educational methods and incorporate them into classes for the basics of information management required of doctors, such as privacy and security.
  2. As a learning support using computers, I am mainly researching how to process and utilize learning data. Recently, research and practice has been conducted on evaluation methods other than paper tests, and learning evaluation methods are becoming more diverse. Currently, I am working on one evaluation method, learner-to-student evaluation.

Education and Research Building 4F Information Education Room

The Informatics Laboratory also manages the Information Education Room located in the library. The Information Education Room is used for student education not only for Informatics classes, but also for the Medical University Common Examination CBT (computer-based testing), classes and seminars using ICT, etc.
