School of Medicine- Course Introduction
Department of Patient Safety and Quality Management
Departments of Clinical Sciences (Clinical Science Program)
The term "quality of medical care" is used in a variety of situations, but this course is about learning and researching "quality of medical care," or quality management in medical care, through clinical practice.
Among these, "ensuring patient safety = medical safety," which is one of the important items that support the "quality of medical care," is the core of the research field of this department. In addition to general research on medical safety such as "multi-professional collaboration (team medical care)," "communication," and "mechanisms for preventing adverse events," we are also working on research into connections with society in various aspects in order for people to live healthy lives, based on the concept of "social prescription."
The biggest feature is the development of educational materials for learning about ensuring patient safety. In addition to writing books, he is working on building systems that focus not only on medicine in the narrow sense but also on society in general, such as developing educational materials using XR technology that can be used by all professions, and developing apps that connect patients, medicine, and the social environment. In addition, as he is responsible for the medical safety education course for undergraduate students Hyogo Medical University, he is able to maintain a consistent "medical safety education as lifelong education" and "research environment" before and after graduation.
The field covered by this course is one in which all medical professionals, regardless of organ specialty or profession, learn the knowledge they must have when applying the knowledge and training they have accumulated to patients in the clinical setting. We are engaged in research to train medical professionals who understand the safety, effectiveness, and risks of the medical treatments they are involved in and can take on medical treatments with confidence.
