School of Medicine- Course Introduction
Laboratory of Molecular and Cellular Therapy
Institute for Advanced Medical Sciences
Laboratory of Molecular and Cellular Therapy is a new department established at Institute for Advanced Medical Sciences in April 2021, and conducts research activities aimed at developing cell and gene therapies.
[Development of new cell therapies and regenerative medicines]
●Development of new cell therapy using stem cells derived from fetal appendages and adipose tissue:
In collaboration with Osaka University, the University of Tokyo, various departments of our university, and companies (C-Tex, a venture company spun off Hyogo Medical University), we are conducting basic research and clinical trials to develop cell therapy for intractable diseases using hematopoietic stem cells derived from umbilical cord blood and mesenchymal stem cells derived from umbilical cord, amniotic membrane, and adipose tissue.
●Development of vascular regeneration therapy using hybrid cell therapy combined with novel medical devices:
In collaboration with Osaka City University, Kinki University, and companies, we are developing regenerative medicine in the medical device category as an inexpensive, repeatable cell therapy, and are currently conducting investigator-initiated clinical trials.
● Research and development of new raw materials and manufacturing methods for cell preparations:
We are working with Osaka University and other companies to develop materials and manufacturing methods for cell culture suitable for cell preparations.
