Four fifth-year School of Medicine, in collaboration with the Nishinomiya Naruo Fire Department, conducted a first aid seminar for second-year students at Nishinomiya City Hamakoshien Junior High School. As part of their clinical training, this seminar was conducted by students in the emergency department, who taught cardiopulmonary resuscitation and how to use an AED to junior high school students in Nishinomiya City. This marked the first time they had collaborated with the fire department.

First, the firefighters gave a demonstration of CPR, and then the junior high school students were divided into small groups and each experienced CPR using a training doll. The students, along with the firefighters, stood next to the junior high school students and instructed them on the angle of their hands and how to apply force during CPR. The students were a little nervous at first, but they quickly opened up to the children and actively spoke to them. We plan to continue holding this type of training in the future.
