Hyogo College Hyogo Medical University
Chair of the Board of Trustees Chikara Tashiro
Hyogo Medical University College of Hyogo Medical University Sasayama Medical Center, is pleased to announce that it has entered into concrete discussions with Nishiki Memorial Hospital (Chair of the Board of Trustees Michio, hereinafter referred to as "Nishiki Memorial Hospital"), a medical corporation, regarding the transfer of management of Hyogo College of Medicine Sasayama Medical Center, Sasayama Geriatric Health Facility, and Sasayama Home Care Service Center (hereinafter referred to as "Sasayama Medical Center").
For many years, Sasayama Medical Center has played a central role in medical care and nursing care in the Tamba Sasayama area. However, given that the "Basic Agreement on the Operation of Hyogo Medical University Sasayama Medical Center" (hereinafter referred to as the "Basic Agreement") between the city of Tamba Sasayama and the center will expire in July of this year, in consultation with the city, we have been in discussions with two local medical institutions regarding the transfer of management as a way to continue providing stable medical care and nursing care in the Tamba Sasayama area.
After comprehensively examining the two medical institutions' views on the transfer of management, including their future approach to local medical care, our university has decided to proceed with concrete discussions with Nishiki Memorial Hospital regarding the transfer of management.
Furthermore, in order to continue the medical system in the Tamba Sasayama area until negotiations regarding the transfer of management with Nishiki Memorial Hospital are concluded, a memorandum to that effect was signed on July 12, 2025 to extend the Basic Agreement, which was due to expire on July 13, 2025, until March 31, 2026, with the exception of some clauses.
Regarding discussions with Nishiki Memorial Hospital regarding the transfer of management, we intend to proceed swiftly and energetically, with the understanding and support of Tanba Sasayama City and Hyogo Prefecture, so that there will be no gap in medical care and nursing care in the Tanba Sasayama area.
We apologize for any inconvenience or concern this may cause to our patients and local residents, but we ask for your understanding as we will continue to contribute to local medical care and nursing care as the core hospital and nursing care facility in the Tamba Sasayama area until discussions on the transfer of management are concluded.
