President's speech (excerpt)

"Congratulations to all the new students and their parents on your admission. As we welcome our new students, we feel strongly that we have two responsibilities as a university. The first is to send out excellent medical professionals into society and contribute to medical care. The second is to provide an education that will enable you to live happy lives as medical professionals. Japan will face a declining population like never before, and artificial intelligence will also continue to develop. We are living in an age of uncertainty, but we want to provide an education that will foster sufficient knowledge, skills, and literacy, as well as a rich humanity. First of all, you should think about what kind of doctor, pharmacist, nurse, physiotherapist, or occupational therapist you want to become, have dreams for the future, and have the self-confidence to work in the field. Imagine yourself as a medical professional and approach your basic studies with a sense of purpose. Aim to become an altruistic professional who, when a patient recovers from an illness, is happy, you, as a medical professional, feel happy too. Altruism is an important quality and qualification for medical professionals, and you should acquire it through systematic social education, including early clinical experience training. Finally, work hard in club activities, international exchange, the university festival, and volunteering, make lifelong friends from across professions, and lead a fun and fulfilling student life. Congratulations on your graduation today. This is a brief message of congratulations."
