President's speech (excerpt)

Congratulations to all the sixth graders and their parents on your graduation. We offer our heartfelt congratulations.
Do you remember when you were freshmen, I mentioned two responsibilities of universities? The first was the responsibility to society to send out good doctors into the world, and the second was to ensure that you have the qualities necessary to lead happy lives as doctors, in other words, the responsibility of universities to provide such an education.
Japan is heading towards a society with a declining birthrate and population that no one has ever experienced before, and the rapid advances in IT and AI will likely continue unabated. While this is sometimes called an "age of uncertainty," there are some things we should value that remain constant no matter the era. One is to "feel joy in seeing patients get better." The other is to "discover what you want to do, set high goals, and work hard."
Take a good look at what you can devote yourself to and work ambitiously towards that goal. At the same time, it is also important to be ethical and moral. Maintain a certain level of morality as a person and as a doctor, and be an honest, humane, and lovable character.
I hope you will devote yourself to what you love with confidence and lead a happy life. Congratulations on your graduation today.
