School of Rehabilitation-Department of Occupational Therapy
Message from the Dean
We train occupational therapists who can contribute to the lives of patients through "occupation"!

In occupational therapy, "occupation" refers to important activities and roles in a person's life, such as eating, getting dressed, hobbies, and work. These "occupations" can become difficult due to mental or physical illness, advanced age, and other reasons. Occupational therapists work closely with the client to analyze their challenges and strengths from a medical perspective. They then work on the mind, body, and environment through various occupational activities rather than simply providing assistance or care, drawing out what the client "can do." The role of occupational therapists is to connect these "abilities" and help the client regain confidence and smiles, and live a life that is true to themselves.
As a comprehensive medical university, our Department of Department of Occupational Therapy has a wide range of facilities, including a university hospital, and provides an environment in which students can start clinical training and learn interprofessional collaboration from an early stage. In addition, we work with local medical and welfare institutions, and through opportunities to interact with patients, we also focus on education that emphasizes practical learning and community contribution.
Join us as we strive to become experts in supporting the lives of those in need.
