Clinical Pharmacy

In this laboratory, we primarily tackle questions and problems concerning issues related to health from many perspectives. We also conduct evidence generation research for individual optimization of pharmacotherapy (drug therapy) in such areas as cancer chemotherapy, and palliative, perioperative, and intensive care using medical records, medical big data from medical institutions, and survey research, with the objective of the improvement and visualization of the professional skills of pharmacists.

Examples of Research Projects at the Laboratory
・Health support and side effects of the use of OTC drugs and domestic and/or imported supplements 
・Support from the perspective of sports pharmacy for people who engage in sports
・Provision of medical care and distribution of medicines by pharmacists after disasters
・Exploring educational methods for medical communication
・Research on and support for people with dysphagia
・School pharmacist activities to support health from the perspective of school environmental sanitation

Studies using clinical data
・Exploration of risk factors for chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy
・The relationship between delirium and gastrointestinal disorders in patients using opioids
・Exploration of risk factors for delirium in intensive care settings


Other activities and research
We also conduct activities and research to solve problems in the field in cooperation with the local pharmaceutical associations.
We believe that peace and health are inseparable, so we conduct activities to think about peace and health, as well as conducting workshops for peace in Japan and other.
