School of Pharmacy- Laboratory Introduction
Neuropharmacology
Pharmacology
Pharmacology is the study of the mechanisms by which drugs affect biological functions.
The central nervous system is a very important region that controls the higher functions of the body. Although there are many functions that need to be elucidated, it is an area that needs to be clarified through extensive research. Drugs that act on the central nervous system also need to be developed. As we face an aging society, it is very important to elucidate and overcome pathologies involving the central nervous system, such as dementia and cerebrovascular disorders. Therefore, we will contribute to society through drug development to address these issues.
Research Projects
1. Elucidation of the mechanism of drug efficacy of drugs and medicines
2. Elucidation of mechanisms of adverse drug reactions of drugs and medicines
3. Elucidation of the mechanism of neuronal cell death and search for drugs that protect neurons
4. Development of novel brain function-improving drugs targeting glial cells
