School of Pharmacy- Laboratory Introduction
Frontier Medical Pharmaceutics
Pharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics
Even if drugs have excellent properties, it is difficult to use in medical treatment as they are. By processing drugs in combination with various pharmaceutical materials and biomaterials, it is possible to suppress side effects, strengthen the desired effect, and give the drugs properties that make them easier to use for patients. For example, the key to realizing regenerative medicine is a pharmaceutical technology called a drug delivery system (DDS), which protects drugs from degradation and allows them to act for the required period in the affected area.
The research theme of this laboratory is to use biomaterials such as polymers to enable the use of previously unavailable drugs and treatments in medical treatment, to develop drugs that are easier for patients to use, and to investigate appropriate methods of use and explanation of drugs by understanding the characteristics of formulations.
Research Projects
1. Development of therapeutic patches and dressings for oral ulcers caused by anti-cancer treatment
2. Physicochemical characterization of original and generic drugs
3. Development of DDSs for industrial animals
4. Development of low inflammatory scaffolds for tissue engineering
