Message from the Dean

Let's produce talented people who will open up the future of rehabilitation!
The current era is said to be VUCA. VUCA is an acronym of four words: Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity, and refers to a state of rapid change that makes it difficult to predict the future. In the field of rehabilitation, unprecedented contributions are being called for, such as expectations for active participation in a super-aging society that humanity will face for the first time, and the need to respond not only to people with illnesses or disabilities, but also to people who have some kind of difficulty in life or are at risk of having such difficulties. In that sense, we are at a major turning point.
In the late Edo period, a time of upheaval similar to today, Katsu Kaishu, the Edo Shogunate Navy Commissioner, opened a private school in Kobe to provide Western-style naval education. It is said that students gained cutting-edge knowledge and techniques, as well as an international perspective, that were not available anywhere else at the time. Sakamoto Ryoma and others who received instruction here developed a broad perspective that looked to the future, and would later become key players in the Meiji Restoration.
Our graduate school inherits the spirit of the Kobe Naval Academy from 160 years ago, and aims to provide cutting-edge rehabilitation education and produce talented people who will pave the way to the future. To that end, in addition to our master's degree program, we have started a doctoral program from 2025. If you are a student who has the enthusiasm to create new ways of providing rehabilitation in an unpredictable era, we would like you to join us without the constraints of academic cliques, so please come and enroll in our graduate school.
