A. Energy conservation measures and their effects
1) Energy conservation targets
We strive to reduce our energy consumption per unit of production by 1% each year compared to the previous year.
At Hyogo Medical University, the unit of energy usage is "energy usage per floor area of the building."

In fiscal 2019 and 2020, energy consumption per unit of production increased due to ventilation measures taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
*Energy consumption unit: Energy consumption per total floor area

2) Adoption of Cool Biz and Warm Biz attire
Starting in the summer of 2005, we implemented the Cool Biz/Warm Biz campaign outside of the medical department, setting the indoor temperature at 28°C during air conditioning in the summer and encouraging Cool Biz (no ties, no jackets) efforts.
Additionally, we have also started the Warm Biz initiative by setting indoor heating temperatures at 20°C during the winter. The Cool Biz period runs from May to October.
C. Energy Conservation Promotion Committee
In recent years, environmental issues have become increasingly common, and in order to operate as an environmentally friendly hospital, our university established an energy conservation
We have launched the Energy Promotion Committee.
"To prevent global warming, we aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and create an environmentally friendly university and hospital."
Based on this basic policy, we will continually strive to be a hospital that is kind to both people and the environment.
1) Organization of the Energy Conservation Promotion Committee

2) Role of the Committee
Role of the Energy Conservation Promotion Committee
- Establishment of energy conservation management policy, management standards and targets
- Formulation of mid- to long-term energy conservation plans
- Understanding energy usage and formulating improvement measures
- Promoting awareness-raising activities regarding energy conservation
- Other matters related to energy conservation
The role of the energy manager
- Promoting initiatives based on management perspectives
- Summary of mid- to long-term plans
- Planning and control of on-site management
Energy Management Planning Promoter
- Assist the Energy Management Director in practical matters.
- Energy conservation awareness activities
D. Obtaining ZEB READY certification
In recent years, as environmental issues have become more prominent, our university has been working on various initiatives for over 10 years to realize "environmentally friendly hospital operations." We have been conducting energy conservation awareness activities, such as the launch of an energy conservation promotion committee, implementing Cool Biz and Warm Biz, and posting our university's unique energy-saving Rubigy posters, while also gradually improving the efficiency of each facility and device. As part of this, we applied for and were selected for the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's Innovative Energy Saving Technology Introduction Promotion Project (ZEB) Subsidy Support Program, and in 2016 we renovated the Sasayama Nursing Home to become a ZEB. In the future, if there are plans to build a new building, we will actively compare LCCs based on design concepts that utilize passive methods to realize ZEB.
