Overview
He was involved as a co-researcher in the Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research, Challenging Exploratory Research, "Establishing a model for nursing support activities for foreign tourists in the event of a disaster (Principal Investigator: Adachi Kazumi, Project Number: 16K15896)."
The number of foreign tourists visiting Japan has reached 15 million (2015), and inbound tourism policies have been put forward. However, concrete efforts to support foreigners in times of disaster are currently insufficient. Therefore, this study aimed to clarify the actual situation through a survey of foreign tourists who are positioned as people requiring support in times of disaster from the perspective of disaster (nursing) support, and to build a nursing support activity model based on the results of the survey and analysis. Interview surveys of 41 foreign tourists visiting Japan and questionnaire surveys of 1,476 accommodation facilities in Tokyo and Hyogo Prefecture were conducted.
What's new?
The specific efforts to support foreigners during disasters are themselves new.
What are its advantages over other studies?
The survey clarified the actual situation of how nursing support activities are required in the event of a disaster, targeting foreign tourists who are considered to require support in the event of a disaster.
What problem does it help solve?
Educational opportunities regarding disaster preparedness vary by country and culture. I believe there is a strong need for research and initiatives aimed at reducing the risks to foreigners in Japan, a disaster-prone country.
