Overview
Advances in drug therapy have dramatically improved the quality of life of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients. Therefore, it is important to promote treatment strategies that take into account the life stages specific to RA and that can reduce the impact of symptoms and functional disorders as much as possible through multidisciplinary collaboration.
This study aims to improve the competencies (nursing practice abilities) of nurses working in rheumatology care (RA nurses), while presenting two specific strategies that can be used even in the COVID-19 era.
- Clarification of care and nursing consultation functions that take into account the characteristics of life stages such as preconception care and menopause
- Clarify and evaluate the scope of rheumatology nursing rehabilitation (content, degree, method, and setting).
The goal is to extract evidence that will enable RA nurses and other medical professionals working in rheumatology to put it into practice in a concrete and appropriate manner without worrying about the care of RA patients in front of them, and to spread this evidence nationwide.
What's new?
The study developed a scale of nursing practice skills for rheumatology nurses, analyzed the structure of the scale, and constructed a model.
In addition, we plan to clarify the rehabilitation provided by nurses and preconception care.
What are its advantages over other studies?
The nursing practice competency scale can be used to measure practical competency and evaluate intervention research.
What problem does it help solve?
Multidisciplinary collaboration will improve the quality and competency of nurses involved in rheumatology care, thereby improving patients' quality of life.
Possibility of other applications and developments
The aim of this study is to extract evidence that will enable RA nurses and other professionals working in rheumatology care to put multi-disciplinary collaboration into practice in a concrete and appropriate manner without worrying about the care of RA patients in front of them, and to disseminate this evidence nationwide.
