LABORATORY OF ALLERGIC DISEASES

The Laboratory of Allergic Diseases was opened in October 2009, and in April 2010 it was selected for the MEXT Strategic Program Grant for Research Infrastructure Development in Private Universities. Approximately 30% of Japanese people suffer from allergic diseases such as atopic dermatitis and pollinosis. The research objective of the Laboratory is “viewing allergies scientifically so as to cure them”, for which we have created novel mouse models of allergic diseases and are working on clarifying the pathogenesis of allergies and developing novel therapeutic drugs. At present, we are conducting research on the pathogenesis of allergic rhinitis caused by IL-33 and basophils.
