LABORATORY OF CELL TRANSPLANTATION

colonyThe Laboratory of Cell Transplantation started in 2000, when it was selected by MEXT for the High-Tech Research Center Development Project (continued into 2005). It is currently working on developing novel hematopoietic stem cell transplants that exceed the barriers of human leukocyte antigens (HLA). The following research is also being conducted: (1) pathogenesis of graft-versus-host disease (GVHD);(2) molecular basis of graftversus-leukemia (GVL) effect; (3) kinetics of post-transplantrelapse; (4) verifying the concept of graft-versus-GVHD; (5)iPS from cord blood cells. This research aims to scientifically demonstrate the usefulness of HL-A haploidentical transplants while also establishing safer and more effective hematopoietic stem cell transplants.
